Character Animation

Our team of specialist animators can model your creatures and critters then imbue them with character through life like performance. Kanuka’s technical directors, armed with Houdini’s dynamics engine and render capabilities, can dress them up in clothes, cover them in slime, brush their hair or ruffle their feathers.

Need a cast of thousands? Our procedural tools can be put to task to gather a crowd, round up a flock, shape a school or buzz them around in a swarm.

Visual Effects

Accustomed to handling the more ambitious, quirky and supernatural visual effects requirements, we’re always advancing and re-inventing our arsenal of digital tricks. Natural phenomena, such as fire, smoke, explosions and fluids, can be created and controlled, persuaded to form ghostly faces or dissipate on cue. Procedural modelling techniques allow us to grow plants, form galaxies, or shrink wrap islands. And by applying advanced lighting and compositing techniques our CGI elements integrate and manipulate seamlessly your live action photography.

Compositing

Our two MacPro Shake workstations have all the storage, speed and stability required to handle the most arduous and sophisticated compositing tasks. At the hands of our experienced compositing artists these suites provide rig-removal, grain matching, chromascreen keying, and multi-layered compositing for CGI elements, all at feature film quality.

VFX Set Supervision

In order to get the highest quality vfx and the most out of your time spent in post-production, Rangi Sutton can bring the benefit of his experience in visual effects to your shoot. By ensuring lighting is appropriate for digital sets, chromascreens are adequate lit, tracking markers are suitably placed and all supporting elements are correctly filmed the post production process can run far more smoothly. An expert opinion on-hand of what can and can’t be economically “fixed in post” can save hours on set or thousands in post.
